While WWE's Raw may brag about being the longest reigning weekly episodic TV series in the history of television, they still don't overshadow the most popular cartoon ever, The Simpsons. America's most loved and dysfunctional family has not only captured the hearts of viewers, but it's also received a lot of love from WWE superstars.
Now in its 20th season, The Simpsons has provided fans with many classic moments that we'll quote for years to come. But if you look closely, they are the same show.
Vince McMahon as Mr. Burns
- Charles Montgomery Burns is known as the evil boss of the Springfield Power Plant while Vincent Kennedy McMahon is the evil dictator of the WWE.
- Mr. Burns' net worth is said to be $996 million. Mr. McMahon's net worth is reportedly $1 billion.
- The most powerful man in Springfield is said to be a bit crazy and delusional. Vinnie Mac lost it and once injected his own company with poison (NWO) because he was losing control.
- Both have been close to assassination. Mr. Burns in the episode "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" and Mr. McMahon at the conclusion of his Million Dollar Giveaway... and with an exploding limo...
Chris Jericho as Bart Simpson
- Bart Simpson is described as mischievous, rebellious and disrespectful. Basically, he's known for terrorizing Springfield, one deed at a time. This might remind the WWE Universe of a certain character who tried to embarrass Rey Mysterio by ripping off his mask, refused to abide by the rules of the guest hosts for Raw and harassed and assaulted HBK's wife. That trouble maker is Chris Jericho.
- Bart loves saving things. In The Simpsons video game, Bart's goal is to save Springfield. In the episode Lemon of Troy, Bart was on a mission to save a lemon tree. Bart, teaming with Homer, also save the town of Springfield inThe Simpsons Movie. Chris Jericho returned to Save the WWE. He later claimed he needed to save himself...from all of us.
- "Eat My Shorts," "Don't have a cow, man!" and "¡Ay, caramba!" are all famous catchphrases used by Bart. Chris Jericho also has a few catchphrases including saying "eeevveerr" for a really long time, "Raw is Jericho" and calling women (err, Stephanie McMahon) "filthy, dirty, disgusting, brutal, skanky, bottom feeding, trash bog H-O."
Mickie James as Lisa Simpson
- Mickie James, like Lisa Simpson, is a talented star who never seems to catch a break.
- Lisa is known to be highly motivated and loves to take on special causes. Mickie James supports the WWE's women's division; what greater cause is there?
- Lisa is said to be highly intelligent and can relay a stat to you in a quick minute. When Mickie James debuted she was highly stalker-like and could spit out Trish Status's stats before you could say restraining order.
- Lisa seems out of place in the dim-witted Simpsons' household. The talented diva is already planning her way out as she has reportedly signed with a country record label.
Santino Marella as Homer Simpson
- Homer's not the brightest of the bunch his troubles include the inability to read. Santino is found to be clueless as he butchers the English language, confusing pop culture and plain old messing things up.
- Santino, like Homer, always seems to find himself between a rock and a hard place time and time again.
- Santino, as hopeless as he is, is so lovable.
- If you could see a thought bubble above Santino's head, it would probably say "Doh!"
John Cena as Ned Flanders
- Ned Flanders doesn't have a chink in his body armor. John Cena is known as the Superman goody-too-shoes of the WWE.
- Both Ned and Cena come off of the nicest guys in the world but they are hated in disrespected by both Homer and (half) the WWE Universe.
- Ned was teased as being the Devil inTreehouse of Horror IV because he's said to be the last one suspected to turn you. Fans have been calling for Cena's heel turn for years now because they just can't stand is cheesy demeanor.
Shelton Benjamin as Barney Gumble
(Read on before you quickly dismiss this. The similarities are closer than you think.)
- As the town drunk, Barney Gumble is the loveable loser of Springfield. Nobody loves to lose more than Shelton Benjamin. (Come on! You'd have to be trying to actually job out as much as he does.)
- Barney has a secret talent, singing of all things. Shelton's talent is no secret, but just as Barney's quartet split up due to creative differences, the same could be said with the WWE's writers. Shelton's career has seen more up-down action than a Duncan Yo-Yo.
- Barney is often in-audible, minus a few loud belches, due to being drunk. When Benjamin talks, sometimes you wish you were drunk.
Carlito as Sideshow Bob A picture's worth a thousand words. Enough said.
Bret "The Hitman" Hart as Himself
Bret Hart appeared in the episode "The Old Man and the Lisa". In this episode, Hart comes in and buys Mr. Burns' (aka Vince McMahon) mansion. To this day, Bret claims that his cameo is the best there is, best there was, and best there ever will be.
