Last week on "Hit The Ropes Radio" Shane, Daris, and I discussed the role of African-Americans in the world of wrestling. We touched on many topics including who's the most decorated champion, who could be next in line to be World Champion and what it takes for an African-American to get to the top.
After spending a little time thinking about all Shawn Michaels has done in wrestling just in recent memory it got me to thinking: is he the best ever in America? Shawn has found himself relevant in wrestling in four decades now. From his beginnings with the Rockers to his rise to superstar status and now his legitimate claim to being a living legend.
Jim Cornette is now shown in the ring. He calls Tyler Black to the ring for an interview regarding this weekend's re-match for the ROH World Title between Black and Austin Aries.

First, we go back to Dixie Carter's address to the troops wrestlers. I was not a fan of that moment last week and I'm still not. Anyway, I hope this week's show is better than what we've been given lately.
Super Dave Osborne is backstage with Mick Foley and Jeremy Borash. Hey, RAW has guest hosts weekly, why can't TNA get Super Dave to promote his new show? Foley grants Dave the opportunity to grant one match tonight and one match only. Interesting to note that once Foley leaves, Borash was quick to grab what looks like Hulk Hogan paraphanelia from Super Dave. Black Machismo comes in and wants to know who he is facing tonight. Super Dave will have to think about that. Just so you know, Super Dave may do death-defying stuff but he doesn't do social networking. Match #1: Dr. Stevie w/ Daffney vs. Abyss Mick Foley comes to the announce table prior to the match. The announcers speak about Foley not being informed of the Hogan signing. As soon as the bell rings Abyss drops the doctor and tries to get the quick pin. Another quick cover gets a two for Abyss. Stevie escapes from the Shock Treatment and clips the big man. Abyss is now on the receiving end of the doctor's abuse. Stevie Kick gives the doctor a two count. Eventually, Abyss is able to hit a Black Hole Slam. The lights go out immediately. When we are able to see the ring again, both men are down. Stevie rolls over and gets the pin. Foley rushes to the ring after Daffney slides a chair into the ring after the match. Before Foley can strike Foley could strike the "good" doc with the chair the lights go out again. Foley is hit with a fireball in the darkness and we then see the attacker was Raven. DDT to Foley. Daffney, Stevie, and Raven celebrate in the ring. Winner: Dr. Stevie via pinfall Opinion: Well, Stevie keeps his job on TNA and that was to be expected. If you were hoping that Abyss would move on to someone else, you are sadly wrong. It was a short match. They had to insert Raven into this match somehow, so this was fine. How soon before we get a tag match between these four men? Rating: *1/2
Match #2: Alissa Flash vs. Traci Brooks Oh look, Traci Brooks is still around. After what went down with the Mafia I thought she was gone posing for another magazine. Flash hits a shoulder breaker. Flatliner follows after the pinfall didn't secure a three. So, Brooks was born with some kind of birth defect with her arm. Flash focuses on this fact and pounds on the arm of the Playboy poser. An armbar submission gets Flash the win. Post-match, Brooks attacks Flash with rights and lefts and expletives. Winner: Flash via submission, armbar Opinion: It's a shame that Flash has to be wasting her time with Traci Brooks, who should be nothing more than a valet. The fact that Brooks attacked Flash at the end means that this thing will continue. Rating: * Match #3: "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal vs. Jim Neidhart "The Anvil" looks a bit umm, pudgy to say the least. The crowd chants "You Still Got It" but I think they are talking about water weight. Lethal is in control for this match until he attempts a cross body. Neidhart catches Lethal and hits a powerslam. Winner: Neidhart via pinfall, using powerslam Opinion: Wait, you lose in the first round of your own invitational? Lame! Don't know where this is going but what does it say about one of your youngsters losing cleanly to an out of shape 40-plus year old? Rating: *
Match #4: The Beautiful People and Awesome Kong vs. ODB, Sarita, Taylor Wilde, and Tara Apparently, Taz has yet to meet Lacey von Erich. I would count Taz lucky there. There is a lot of screaming going on here. With von Erich taking it to Sarita we go to commercial. When we return, TBP is still in control. This is until ODB gets the tag and cleans house. Bronco Buster Muncher by ODB to Velvet Sky. After a fallaway slam to Madison Rayne, ODB eats a clothesline from von Erich. Awesome Kong finally gets her chance in the ring. Wilde is able to escape the Awesome Bomb but can't escape the Implant Buster. Kong and Tara stare each other down afterwards. Funny stuff seeing von Erich, smiling, wanting to go hug Kong after the match and the other two ladies pull her back. Winner: TBP and Kong via pinfall, using Implant Buster Opinion: I really love the name of Kong's finishing move. I enjoyed this match the best so far. Don't ask me why. The ladies didn't knock my socks off, but the match got a bit of time. TBP was able to look competent here. von Erich wasn't abysmal. Let's hope they still lose at Turning Point. Rating: **
In the ring, Angle is speaking. Angle has respect for the guys in the back because they have paid their dues. He has no respect from Desmond Wolfe for coming off the street and trying to make a name for himself by trying to take Angle out. Angle will make sure that at Turning Point he will terminate Wolfe's wrestling career. Wolfe pops up on the screen, standing in a bar with a lovely lady. Wolfe isn't here to beat Angle, he's here to end his career. Angle is able to realize that video was a diversion and was able to avoid an ambush from a lurking Wolfe. Angle is taking it to the youngster until Angle tries to hit Wolfe with a chair. Wolfe avoids the attack, kicks Angle in the stomach and drops him with a DDT. We get a chair shot to Angle's face for good measure. "Third times a charm, sunshine," exclaims Wolfe to his fallen prey. Match #5: Motor City Machine Guns & Amazing Red vs. Homicide, Kyoshi, & Sheik Abdul Bashir (Six-Man X Division Tag Match) Super Dave is at the announce desk to continue plugging his show. Dave keeps informing Taz and Mike Tenay that Homicide stole items from Foley's office. Homicide goes for Foley's barbed-wire bat that he pilfered from the office and wrapped in his country's flag. Security takes Homicide to the back. Alex Shelley was playing damsel in distress until he gets the tag to Red. Red excites the crowd with his high-octane offense. A corkscrew over the top by Red to take out Kyoshi. Back in the ring, Sabin has Bashir in a neckbreaker position and Shelley hits a crossbody off the top rope. Winner: MCMG and Red via pinfall, using crossbody from the top Opinion: You give the fans the X Division, you make the fans happy. Atleast it will make me happy. Amazing Red was impressive in his short time in the ring. Homicide continues to come off as a crazed individual. Good match, especially with Dave on commentary being in awe of these guys. Rating: ***1/2 (I want more time, dang it.)
Match #6: The British Invasion vs. Beer Money Inc. Robert Roode and Doug Williams start things. After both men get clotheslined, Williams wants to leave but Brutus Magnus tells him they have to continue. A loss of any kind would result in BMI being included into the tag title match at Turning Point. Big Rob Terry comes down with a steel chair and Magnus orders him to the back as to avoid any DQ. TBI turned things around and were taking it to Roode until he was able to hit a double Blockbuster. James Storm is in and cleans house. Bulldog unto Williams. Elevated DDT (assist of the middle rope) to Magnus. After a little confusion on TBI's end, Magnus feels the DWI and BMI is now inserted into the tag title match. Winner: Beer Money Inc. via pinfall, DWI Opinion: Good work by all four men. Each team had a chance to take the upper hand here. Nice job teasing TBI wanting to take the easy way out but realizing they can't. Rating: ***
Main Event: Samoa Joe vs. AJ Styles It's 10:53 so this match won't go for too long. Sa Joe runs a boot right into AJ's face in the corner. An STF is soon locked in on the TNA World Champion, Styles. After a clothesline, Joe gets a two. Styles counters a powerbomb and tries to get Joe up for the Styles Clash. A backbody drop counter by Joe. Styles hits a Pele kick on Joe. AJ heads up to the top but Daniels runs to ring apron to "watch the match". With his opponent's back turn, Joe is able to lock in the rear-naked choke hold. Winner: Samoa Joe via submission, using rear-naked choke Opinion: It was a decent match to close the show. The main point here was Daniels' interference to further stir the pot for the pay-per-view. Rating: ***
Overall A good go-home show. I felt this go-home show was better done than Bound for Glory. For that, good job TNA. The wrestling was much better this week. Say what you will but I am a bit more intrigued for the pay-per-view, what with BMI's involvement and the six-man street fight.
