Last week on "Hit The Ropes Radio" Shane, Daris, and I discussed the role of African-Americans in the world of wrestling. We touched on many topics including who's the most decorated champion, who could be next in line to be World Champion and what it takes for an African-American to get to the top.
After spending a little time thinking about all Shawn Michaels has done in wrestling just in recent memory it got me to thinking: is he the best ever in America? Shawn has found himself relevant in wrestling in four decades now. From his beginnings with the Rockers to his rise to superstar status and now his legitimate claim to being a living legend.
Jim Cornette is now shown in the ring. He calls Tyler Black to the ring for an interview regarding this weekend's re-match for the ROH World Title between Black and Austin Aries.

Show opened with a video package of you guessed it, Bryan Danielson. It had Hogwood on voiceover talking about Dragon’s tenure in ROH and it had clips from his appearances on HDNet.
As Delirious was posing at the top of the ramp, Sonjay Dutt comes out and attacks him form behind. For those of you who don’t know, Sonjay has taken a liking to Delirious’ girl Daizee Haze. He throws Delirious into the ring post and leaves, back up the ramp. Hagadorn throws Delirious into the ring, and Hero begins to go to work on him. Delirious does manage to mount a little offense but it doesn’t last long. Hero starts ripping pieces of Delirious’ “hair” out. After connecting with a head-scissor, Delirious begins to comeback, and holds his own against Hero. However, That “Young Knockout Kid” connects with his patented Rolling Elbow and scores the victory. Winner-Chris Hero via pinfall with the Rolling Elbow. After the match Sonjay comes out, leans over Delirious, and puts Delirious’ hands together. They show a graphic to remind everyone of the main event for the night: Roderick Strong vs. Bryan Danielson. Bryan Danielson’s Top 5 Moments In ROH: No.2 Bryan was facing Colt Cabana in 2006 in Chicago at a show called Gut Check. The match was a 2 out of 3 falls match, and was supposed to go 60 minutes. Bryan separated his shoulder early in the match. Bryan competed through the whole match and it ended in a time limit draw. He says that his favorite moments are ones where something happened and he endured. He then talks up Cabana and says he always loved wrestling him. Match #2-Grizzly Redwood/Necro Butcher vs. Joey Ryan/Prince Nana This match is a beard vs. beard match. Both Grizz and Ernie have put up their beards if they lose. Ernie is still nursing an arm injury so Nana is fighting in his place. I love how Necro and Grizz psyche each other up by chopping the other one in the chest. Nana tagged in and out so quickly through the match if you blinked, you missed him. Grizzly hits a swinging DDT (Yeah! I said that.) on Joey Ryan to score the fall and the win. Winners-Grizzly Redwood and the Necro Butcher via pinfall. After the match, Grizz and Necro cut off the beard and hair of Ernie Osiris. As we all know, at this point, this match gave birth to the new and improved Ernesto Osiris. Next, they go to a clip of Bryan after his last live match in New York City. “We Will Miss You” chants come pouring in. There are a couple people in tears over the fact that he is leaving. Bryan Danielson’s Top 5 Moments In ROH: No.1 Bryan’s favorite match in ROH history was against KENTA at Glory by Honor V in 2006. This was his first match back from recovering from the separated shoulder he suffered in his number 2 moment. KENTA took every opportunity to kick the sh*t out of his shoulder. He said that he had never been in so much pain before that match, and he couldn’t be prouder of the fact that he was bale to finish the match. They re-show Tyler Black getting his face burned by Austin Aries from the week before, and in two weeks Aries will be facing Colt Cabana. They also show the clip of Kenny King injuring Jerry Lynn from about a month ago. They show a graphic saying that he will go one-on-one with Brent Albright next week. They also show an interview with King. In it he says he knows everyone in the locker room is jealous of him. He says they wish they could be like Kenny King. Match #3 Rasche Brown vs. Cameron Matthews Yet another squash match brought to us by Rasche Brown. Torture rack into a burning hammer. In the time it takes you to read this description the match was over. Winner-Rasche Brown via Pinfall Once again, we get another video package featuring the man of the evening, Bryan Danielson. They show clips from some of his matches from HDNet. It was surprisingly short. Match #4-Roderick Strong vs. Bryan Danielson The crowd went bananas when Danielson came out. The match was great. A lot of back and forth between the two of them. Both kept coming with their patented moves, but they know each other so well that nothing seemed to get the victory. They went up top for a superplex, and Danielson fought out with some elbows, so Strong hit a top rope gutbuster, then followed up with a running big boot for the pin. Winner-Roderick Strong via pinfall. After the match, Roderick grabbed a mic and said that everyone, including him, thinks of Danielson like a brother. The entire locker room came out and everybody in the Arena was chanting “Thank You Dragon.” They cut the show as Danielson was about to make a speech. On their Twitter, ROH said that they will have Danielson’s speech as part of a Year in Review show that will air on HDNet on December 28th. Overall, I liked the entire show. I hope soon we get to see Rasche Brown doing something other than squashing nobodies. I thought the Roddy-Dragon match lived up to the hype and was a good way of saying farewell to ROH’s favorite son. Next week starts the Dragon-less era. Don’t forget Kenny King vs. Brent Albright. Was it the best show of the year? No, but it was definitely one of the better shows I've seen so far. As always you can watch the show for yourself on YouTube.
