Last week on "Hit The Ropes Radio" Shane, Daris, and I discussed the role of African-Americans in the world of wrestling. We touched on many topics including who's the most decorated champion, who could be next in line to be World Champion and what it takes for an African-American to get to the top.
Today's the big football game, meaning it is a day filled with predictions and rumored celebrities to be in attendance. But when it comes to rumors, there is only one place to come and that is here, Hit the Ropes. We've got more news than Peyton Manning has touchdown passes and more awesomeness than Reggie Bush has female acquaintances... Well, that last one isn't so hard to beat since Bush is comfy with Ms. Kardashian. GO SAINTS! It also marks the comebacks of Frank Trigg and Matt Serra.
Super Bowl XLIVToday is Super Sunday. No it's not Wrestlemania, as we have a couple of months before that, but the NFL's version of the "Granddaddy of them All." But since the majority of sports fans don't have a dog in the fight, hey there's only two teams playing, many of those gathered in front of the screen will be there to check out the commercials.

Breakthrough Qualifying Match: Kofi Kingston vs. Dolph Ziggler Kingston comes down eying Randy Orton who was heading back up the ramp. Ziggler has advantage early on and hits four straight elbows. Kofi shifts the momentum, hits the Boom Drop but Ziggler avoids Trouble in Paradise. Ziggler goes for Zig Zag but Kofi holds on to the ropes. Trouble in Paradise by Kingston. Winner: Kofi Kingston
Match starts with Finlay and Sheamus battling outside. Back in ring, Sheamus gets a nice quick win following a crucifix powerbomb and advances to the breakthrough Battle Royal After the match, Sheamus give a nice bicycle kick to send Finlay over the barricade. Winner: Sheamus
CM Punk starts with the same usual "Straightedge Promo." I dont have to remind you of my feelings for Punk. Slow start with the match, nobody seems to want to take control. Cena goes for the drop toe hold and STF early, Punk crawls out of the ring. Punk reverses an AA attempt and hits a nice cross body. Crowd seems fairly dead. Nice Electric Chair drop by Cena to reverse a legscissors by Punk. Few reversals, Punk reverses an AA into a GTS, Cena reverses the GTS into the STF, which then goes to an enziguri by Punk. Nice diving Fame Asser by Cena. Cena wins with an AA off the top rope after ducking out of Punks Cross Body attempt. Winner: John Cena
Slow start, MVP vs Swagger. Swagger tags in Chavo, MVP tags in R-Truth. Mark Henry hits a nice Military Press throwing Chavo out of the ring onto Swagger, and R-Truth gets the win following a nice Lariat Kick. Winners: MVP, Mark Henry and R-Truth
Breakthrough Qualifying Match: Evan Bourne vs. Primo Colon Randy Orton comes out during Primo's entrance and ambushes Primo. Ventura announces that if Orton can beat Bourne, he'll get into the battle royal. Slow match start, Orton dominates early, til Bourne hits his top rope knee splash. Orton wins shortly after with an RKO, as expected. Winner: Randy Orton
Nice add-in with the Gobbedly Gooker as the guest timekeeper, 19 years later. Very painful match to watch, crowd isnt into it at all. McCool and Layla leave the match, Melina wins with a pin with bridge. Absolutely zero finishers, match was a bonafide piss-break. After the match, Maryse makes her return as after ripping off the Gobbedly Gooker mask and attacking Melina. Poor attacking selling an attack, rather boring return. Winners: Melina, Mickie James and Kelly Kelly
McIntyre and HBK start the match, with HBK being dominated early. Nice Showmans Suplex on HBK. HBK scores the hot tag on Triple H, McIntyre tags in Kid. Spinebuster on Kid. Nice ending with HBK hitting the SCM on McIntyre as he sets up the double team move on Triple H, and Triple H scores the Pedigree on Tyson Kidd for the pinfall. Winners: DX After the match, Jericho informs DX that at TLC DX will face JeriShow for the Unified Tag Team Championships. Batista comes out to Rey's music, shows a replay of his Survivor Series match vs Rey Mysterio and how badly he destroyed him. He says that noone from SD better win the Breakthrough Battle Royal because he wants the Undertaker, and noone alive will stop him. Enter Kane. Kane asks him to make an example of him, and Batista leaves the ring. Breakthrough Qualifying Match: Legacy vs Cryme Tyme JTG starts dominating Rhodes. DiBiase gets the tag and dominated JTG until tagging back in Rhodes. JTG scores the hot tag on Shad, and Shad comes in to a few clotheslines on DiBiase. Shad hits a nice Powerbomb on Dibiase for the two count. Rhodes distracts Shad, DiBiase hits the Dream Street for the pinfall. Winners: Legacy Great promo with Santino and the divas. Santino gets pied 5 times. Breakthrough Battle Royal Match: Kofi vs. Legacy vs Orton vs MVP vs Sheamus vs Mark Henry vs R-Truth Question for all: Why does Kofi still come out to Jamacian music when hes announced from Ghana, West Africa now? Legacy goes for Kofi early. Sheamus eliminates MVp and R-Truth, Henry eliminates Legacy, then Sheamus eliminates Henry. Kofi skins the cat, then eliminates Orton with a headscissors. Sheamus then eliminated Kofi to win the Battle Royale and a WWE or World Heavyweight Championship match. Winner: Sheamus Show ends with a WWE Championship Contract Signing between Cena and Sheamus. Cena mocks Sheamus saying he accomplished nothing. Nice speech and enthusiasm. Ventura then says that Cena is only champ because of a conspiracy theory, enough time to distract him for Sheamus to give Cena a bicycle kick. Sheamus then powerslams Cena through a table, and Ventura announces that the match at TLc will be a table match.
