Last week on "Hit The Ropes Radio" Shane, Daris, and I discussed the role of African-Americans in the world of wrestling. We touched on many topics including who's the most decorated champion, who could be next in line to be World Champion and what it takes for an African-American to get to the top.
Today's the big football game, meaning it is a day filled with predictions and rumored celebrities to be in attendance. But when it comes to rumors, there is only one place to come and that is here, Hit the Ropes. We've got more news than Peyton Manning has touchdown passes and more awesomeness than Reggie Bush has female acquaintances... Well, that last one isn't so hard to beat since Bush is comfy with Ms. Kardashian. GO SAINTS! It also marks the comebacks of Frank Trigg and Matt Serra.
Super Bowl XLIVToday is Super Sunday. No it's not Wrestlemania, as we have a couple of months before that, but the NFL's version of the "Granddaddy of them All." But since the majority of sports fans don't have a dog in the fight, hey there's only two teams playing, many of those gathered in front of the screen will be there to check out the commercials.

Knowing this topic is bringing old stuff to the light, much like your girlfriend who brings up the night you forgot to take out the trash at the opportune time, but isn't the WWE PG? Then why promote a 3-disc set to millions of kids when Hardy has been accused of having countless drugs in his possession? Of course he's a free man and yet to have been convicted of any charges, but like my mother always told me, it's guilt by association. That's just how society works. But it's cool because fans are going to bend over backwards to purchase the DVD, and don't get me wrong I'm sure it's good, but really? Is that what we're resorting to? So the days of heroes telling us to say our prayers and eat our vitamins are gone, I get that. And straight-edge successful wrestlers are heels; it's sports entertainment , I get that too. But when does social responsibility step in? I'm not saying boycott all things Jeff Hardy, although they manage to do a good job of doing things like that when the national media cracks down (Chris Benoit). I'm saying at least wait until he's been proven by the court of law as innocent. Prove that he's worthy of being a role model. Prove that he's worth a good example. I'm sure I'm coming across like an old hag, I'm okay with that. And before you think I'm some kind of hater, realize that I bought the first Hardy Boyz tape the WWE produced and I was a fan since Jeff rocked the rattail. My thing really isn't a plea against Jeff Hardy at all, but more so towards the WWE. While the 'E erased Benoit from its history books, it promotes others who've done wrong. A wrong is a wrong, and Benoit should not be promoted but his accomplishments shouldn't be erased either. There's a difference. So instead of putting those who've caused trouble on a pedastal, why not promote those who haven't? Give me more of CM Punk, Jack Swagger and Tyson Kidd. When will a documentary on 'good ol' JR or a DVD on the Big Show be on sale? You don't have to throw away the new Jeff Hardy DVD just because something negative comes out, everyone deserves a second (or third) chance, but show me your true colors. The title of the DVD says it all My Life, My Rules, and Jeff Hardy did exactly what he wanted to do... and that's cool because he was doing him. But don't play PG. Hanging out at the Nickelodeon awards and talking to sick kids one day, and every other day you're assaulting wrestler's wives and breaking into homes another. If you want to be PG-13, all you've got to do is say so. Because I'm cool with that, just don't jerk me around.
