Tonight's episode of SmackDown! will be about finding out who's challenging the Undertaker for the World Heavyweight Championship. Does the Friday night show follow suit and have a tournament like Raw had? The biggest match advertised for this show was Batista taking on Kane.

The show opens with Chris Jericho coming out to address the upcoming match that JeriShow has against DX at Tables, Ladders, and Chairs pay-per-view. Big words by Jericho, followed by promoting how tough the TLC match is, along with the fact that Jericho has been in two TLC matches, while DX has not.

GM Theodore Long comes out to the ramp and Long is going to give Jericho what he wants. Jericho thinks he's going to get inserted into the No. 1 contender spot but Long informs him that he will face the Undertaker tonight in a non-title match.

Match #1: Cryme Tyme vs. The Hart Dynasty

Yo, yo, yo, how many times am I going to have to sit through these two teams battling?

JTG and Tyson Kidd start things but after a low dropkick, knocking JTG to the mat, Kidd tags in DH Smith. The Canadians keep JTG in the corners away from his tag partner. After taking a few forearms to the head, JTG is able to kick Kidd in the face and hit a leg drop to halt the momentum. Both larger men of the teams get tagged. We get a shoulder block from Gaspard to Smith from the middle rope. All four men get in the ring. Kidd clotheslines JTG over the top rope, Gaspard returns the favor to Kidd, but Gaspard doesn't see Smith who hits him with a Saito bomb for the win.

Winner: The Hart Dynasty via pinfall

Opinion: This is a match we've seen several times. It loses its appeal after the 2, 098th time. Is there a point to these tag matches? Do they lead to a title shot? If not, keep them off my TV. Rating: *1/2

Backstage, John Morrison meets with GM Long. Morrison would love the chance to get a shot with any member of Miz's team from Survivor Series, one-on-one. Vickie Guerrero enters and reminds Long that he can't make matches without her consent. She wants to nominate Eric Escobar for the No. 1 contendership position. After threatening to call Mr. McMahon, Vickie is granted her wish and Escobar will get a title shot tonight...with John Morrison.

CM Punk comes to the ring with a brown paper bag and a large tattooed man who looks like he's a biker. Punk plans on continuing his crusade until they no longer need help in their lives. Punk introduces him as Luke Gallows aka Festus. Punk has helped him get better. Festus was using pills to get better until one pill turned to two and it continues from there. Punk goes on to tell us that there is a drug coming out on Dec. 1st that is more dangerous than anything else. From the paper bag comes the Jeff Hardy DVD. Tells us that when it comes to the DVD, just say "no".

Matt Hardy's music hits and out comes the older Hardy. Hardy likens Punk to a cult leader. Matt says everyone has faults, even Punk. CM Punk knows nothing about Jeff Hardy. Looks like we're going to have a match between these two.

Match #2: Matt Hardy vs. CM Punk w/Luke Gallows

Punk is working over Hardy's left arm. Punk goes for the springboard clothesline but Matt locks him into the Side Effect. Clothesline-bulldog combination by Hardy gets him a two count. According to Matt Striker, the WWE Universe falls in love with Matt Hardy because of his leg drop from the middle rope. Gallows interferes and the bell sounds. Gallows beats down on Hardy a bit before it becomes a double-team effort. Gallows puts Hardy in a very unique submission that focuses on the neck.

Winner: Matt Hardy via DQ

Opinion: Before the DQ it was an okay match. Nothing major. Interested to see how Gallows look from here on out. Festus was a good worker. Rating: *1/2 (match only)

We recap Michelle McCool's teasing of Mickie James last week before Josh Matthews interviews Mickie backstage. She states no matter what juvenile acts McCool and Layla perform, James isn't going anywhere.

Match #3: Batista vs. Kane

There's a staredown at the beginning of the match before Kane slaps his hand around Batista's neck. Batista escapes and flees the ring. Batista is able to get in some shots when Kane attempts to head to the outside but Kane regains the advantage. The men go back and forth throughout the match with Batista focusing on Kane's leg. It isn't until the action goes to the outside and Batista is sent over the barricade that things turn decisively in one man's favor. When Kane comes around the barricade after Batista, Batista hits him with a chair to the knees. The ref, in the ring, isn't able to see this. Batista gets to the ring before the 10 count.

Winner: Batista via count out

Opinion: This was a good match, especially since Batista is involved. I like the fact that the heel Batista uses submissions. I don't care for count out victories when a title shot is at stake. Rating: **1/2

Match #4: Eric Escobar w/Vickie Guerrero vs. John Morrison©  (Intercontinental Championship match)

Before the match, Guerrero comes down to introduce her boyfriend. Morrison gets a dropkick early on in the match and Escobar rolls to the outside. Asai moonsault by JoMo knocks the challenger to the ground. Escobar takes advantage of a distraction by Vickie to gain the upperhand. He focuses on Morrison's back, including the use of a bear hug. John finds his opening with a leg lariat. We then get the springboard chuck kick and Starship Pain.

Winner: John Morrison via pinfall (retains title)

Opinion: Probably the best of the few matches Escobar has had since coming up. Rating: **

Post-match, Guerrero is furious with Escobar. She squeals screams at him, tells him it's over and slaps him. After commercials, Escobar catches up with Vickie backstage. She tells him to get away from her because he makes her sick. Escobar channels his inner Edge and tells Vickie she makes him sick.

Match #5: Chris Jericho vs. The Undertaker

Batista comes to the announce table before the match. The Undertaker is able to hit Old School early on in the match. Throughout the match, 'taker glances over at Batista. Outside the ring we get a face-to-face confrontation between the champ and his No. 1 contender. When the Phenom attempts to get back in the ring, Jericho is able to hit a springboard dropkick. Undertaker is able to get control and hit Snake eyes, a big boot, and a leg drop in succession. Jericho isn't staying down though. Jericho is able to get a running bulldog that leads to a lionsault. Vintage Undertaker with the pop up and stare. He chokeslams Jericho. When he goes for the Tombstone, Batista runs in the ring and hits a chopblock. The ref calls for the bell. Jericho hits a Code Breaker, leaving 'taker to Batista. Batista wails away and hits Undertaker with 11 chair shots.

Winner: The Undertaker via DQ

Opinion: A good match but then it's Jericho and 'taker, what do you expect? Not sure why the interference since it was non-title and Jericho seemed on the verge of losing anyway. Guess it doesn't make Jericho look weak on the way to the tag match at TLC.

Overall

A good episode of SmackDown. I'm interested to see the relationship of Punk and Gallows continue. Did the WWE drop the R-Truth/Punk deal? That was short.

Is Matt Hardy the new challenger for Punk?

Does Escobar become a face now or does he reconcile somehow with Vickie?

Where is Mike Knox?

I guess that Batista and Undertaker will be a Chairs match at TLC.
